Your PayPal balance refills automatically

When your PayPal balance runs out, it refills with money from a debit card or bank account that’s linked to your PayPal account. The default is to add money in increments of $10.00 USD.

To cover the total cost of your purchase, if it’s more than your available balance, your PayPal balance is refilled as necessary.

To change the default top-up amount or turn off automatic top-up for Google Pay:

  1. Go to paypal.com .
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Next to your PayPal balance, tap or click More and then Automatic top-up.
  4. From this screen you can:
    • Turn automatic top-up on or off.

Tip: If you turn off automatic top-up, future Google Pay transactions that don’t have enough PayPal Cash or PayPal Cash Plus balance for the purchase will be declined. For more info, go to the PayPal website.
