What’s new in Google Wallet

Quick access to your items

Use your phone or smartwatch to tap to pay in stores, board a plane, ride transit, attend an event, use your loyalty card at your favorite merchants, display your COVID-19 vaccination info, or start your car.

Add new items quickly

To add a new card or pass, tap the Add to Wallet on the home screen. On websites and apps with an “Add to Google Wallet” or “Add to Google Pay,” you can save items to Google Wallet as well.

Find items you’ve saved faster

Google Wallet has a simple layout with larger text to help you find and use cards and passes.

Review recent payment activity

To review recent tap to pay transactions with Wallet:

1. Tap on a payment card.
2. At the top right, tap Transaction details .

An updated menu with new features

You can switch Google Accounts, get tips for Google Wallet, access app settings and more. To access the menu, at the top right of the home screen, tap your Profile picture .

Organize your cards & passes

To reorder your debit and credit cards, swipe to your last card and tap Edit card order . To reorder passes, touch and hold and drag them up or down.

Control your data across Google

You can use many of the items in your wallet with other Google apps, like Gmail, Calendar, and Assistant. They’ll provide notifications, alerts, and other info related to your tickets, passes and more. Learn how to manage passes data.

What’s the difference between Google Wallet & Google Pay?

Google Wallet is a secure and private digital wallet that lets you store items like:

• Payment cards
• Flight and event tickets
• Transit passes
• Vaccination cards
• Loyalty and gift cards
• Digital car keys
• Campus IDs

Google Pay is an app that lets you manage your money and your finances. It lets you:

• Get insights about your spending and spending habits.
• Send money to friends and family or split bills.
• Earn rewards on eligible transactions.
• Find offers from your favorite merchants.
• Have quick access to your Google Wallet.

Do I need to download the Google Wallet app?

If you have the Google Pay app, you can access your Google Wallet with the Google Pay app. If you want to access Google Wallet directly, download the Google Wallet app.

If you don’t have the Google Pay app, and the Google Wallet app isn’t pre-installed on your phone, you must download the Google Wallet app.

Can I use Google Wallet to tap to pay?

Yes. You can make contactless payments with a supported debit or credit card that you stored in Google Wallet anywhere that you find Google Pay or contactless payment logos. Learn how to:

Do I need to add my payment methods or passes again?

No. Cards, passes, tickets, or other items you added to Google Pay will remain in Google Wallet.

What if I get a new phone?

If you transfer over the Google Pay or Google Wallet app to a new phone, your cards and passes should transfer to your new phone, but you must:

• Set up your cards for tap to pay transactions

Is Google Wallet available in my country or region?

Google Wallet is currently available in over 50 countries and regions. If your country or region is not listed, check back as Google Wallet will expand to new places soon.
