Google Wallet works with Plaid, a third-party service, to obtain transaction and balance info, so you can track your spending and account balances. To provide this service and to help create a secure connection to your financial institution, Plaid collects and uses your financial institution login info and accesses your account.
Link an account
Link your financial accounts to Google Wallet to connect things like balances, transactions, and other account data to Google products and services.
- Go to the Google Wallet website.
- Click Settings.
- Click Accounts linked with Plaid.
- Click Link an account.
- Read the terms and conditions, click Accept.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link with Plaid.
- Once your account has been linked, click Got it.
Tip: It can take several minutes for your transactions to appear after linking an account.
Reconnect an account
If you've previously linked your bank account with Plaid, you may get a notification to reconnect your account for some of the following reasons:
- Interrupted connection: Your bank interrupts the connection for security maintenance.
- Updated credentials: Your credentials changed. To authenticate your new info, you must reconnect your account with Plaid.
- Account isn't found: Your bank account was deleted or the linked credit card expired. To reconnect your account with Plaid, you need to update bank or credit card info.
- Multi-factor authentication (MFA): Your bank account requires an MFA that we don't currently support. Try to link a different bank or credit card with Plaid.
To reconnect your account with Plaid:
- Go to the Google Wallet website.
- Click Settings.
- Click Accounts linked with Plaid.
- Find the bank or financial institution that was disconnected.
- Click Reconnect.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your account.
- Once your account has been reconnected, click Got it.

Unlink an account
To unlink your account with Plaid:
- Go to the Google Wallet website.
- Click Settings
- Click Accounts linked with Plaid.
- Select your account.
- Click Unlink.
- To confirm, click Unlink.

- Plaid and Google will store this information while your bank account is linked to Google Wallet. To unlink your account, you can remove it from Google Wallet. Plaid’s Privacy Policy details how Plaid handles your data.
Most banks that work with Plaid are listed as options when you start the process to add your account. If your bank isn’t listed, it may still be compatible with Plaid. For more info, contact your bank.
When you remove an account from Google Wallet, Google deletes the transaction history associated with that account. If you have accounts linked through Plaid with a non-Google service, Plaid continues to store your data. To manage your account linked with Plaid, contact plaid.com.
