I have been trying to get my number ported from voice to google Fi. It has been more than 24 hours and Fi support says I have to post on a public forum to get my private issue handled from Voice by having a moderator pick up my issue. So please mods, pick up my case.

Google Fi support is incorrect, the gaining carrier [Fi] must take the number, Google voice doesn't push it to them.
 It is the responsibility of the Winning carrier to update the industry data when a number ports:  
Google Voice's only responsibility is to de-provision the number.
Google is not authorized to update industry data for numbers that have ported away.
This has to be worked by the winning carrier.  No Google Voice action

They are saying I need to release the number. The problem is that it's on my son's child account which has no access to Google voice. So I can't adjust a single thing there.

If there is no access to a Google Voice account then there is no number to release.
