Setting hours - Google Voice

Hi! I am not using the G-suite option for Google Voice but want to set office hours for my voice account, is this feature still possible? Hoping to set my availability.

Thanks!

Hi Mira Kaplan 604, welcome to the free, consumer version of Google Voice (a telephony product) community forum!

The free, consumer version of Google Voice DOES NOT have a setting for office hours.

The business-class version of Google Voice for G-Suite DOES have a setting for office hours.. You can find more information about that version here: https://cloud.google.com/voice/.

You can set a ring schedule for individual forwarding PTSN phones (but not VoIP devices), using the Google Voice Legacy interface in the free, consumer version, but it will not follow any type of office hours settings from your Google Calendar.

The option is available in the Legacy Google Voice interface.  You can get to the settings screen directly by following this link: https://www.google.com/voice/redirection/voice#phones

Under the forwarding phone you'd like to set a ring schedule for, click on the Edit button.  Then click the link that says Show advanced settings.  Then scroll down, and you'll see the following:

This is still where you will need to set your schedules.

I'm not sure if/when it will be moved to the new Google Voice interface.  It would probably be a good idea to submit feedback, to let the developers know it is an option you'd like to see integrated.  You won't receive any response from the feedback, but they do read all feedback for future development consideration.

Since you mentioned you're using Google Voice for business, which I inferred from your need to set office hours, I must give my standard disclaimer:

Given your use case as a business number, I do not recommend business use with the consumer version of Google Voice. It is not a supported component of G-Suite (no service level guarantee), and there is no direct customer service available from Google.

The free (consumer) version of Google Voice is a consumer-targeted offering that is great for personal, non-business use.  It does not have any direct technical support, and it does have occasional outages and hard-to-diagnose bugs.  When things go wrong, any money you saved using Google Voice could be quickly offset by a loss of business, or by damage to your business' online reputation from unhappy customers who can't reach you.

If you need the officially supported business version of Google Voice, that would be offered through G-Suite, and you can find more information here: https://cloud.google.com/voice

There are numerous other, affordable options for small business telephony, including "cloud" hosted or locally-managed VoIP services.
I hope this answers your question.
