My business phone number is marked as spam for all `Google Voice` customers . It is not used for spam calls/text but it might have followed patterns of a spam number like sending messages to multiple people etc

I would like to know the following

* How do i remove my number from the spam list ?
* Do google voice mark a number as spam number by checking some patterns in the numbers behaviour ? if so what does it check . This info will help me make sure we don't fall under that or use different numbers

Thanks

Hello Sarath Pillai, thanks for your question and welcome to the free consumer version Google Voice forum.

My business phone number is marked as spam for all `Google Voice` customers .

Is your "business number" a Google number, or is it a carrier number that you subscribe to from a traditional telephone carrier?

Do google voice mark a number as spam number by checking some patterns in the numbers behaviour ?

Yes, the pattern is that some minimum threshold number of Google Voice users click to report the same incoming telephone number as "spam". This is known as "community sourced" spam filtering.

The Spam Filter blocks calls that many Google Voice users flag as "spam". Google doesn't publish the magic number that triggers this block so nobody knows if 100, 1,000 or 1,000,000 Google Voice users have to classify a particular phone number as "spam" before Google Voice will globally block it for all Google Voice users. There is a threshold that if reached, Google adds that telephone number to its Global Spam Filter offenders list.

Perhaps you are not making a large enough volume of calls that would trigger Google's Global Spam Filtering monitors to cause your business number to be flagged as "spam" for all Google Voice users, but if a bad player out in the real world is spoofing your Google telephone number and annoying large groups of Google Voice subscribers, there is the possibility that enough Google Voice users are reporting incoming calls that show your number as spam, therefore endearing you a place on the Google Voice Global Spam Filtering list.

How do i remove my number from the spam list ?

Nobody here can answer that, and I don't think Google would comment on this because true offenders whose numbers rightfully get on the Global Spam Filter list would have a clear way to be removed from the Global Spam Filter list.

Hi Sarath:

Create a Google "My Business" profile:  https://www.google.com/business/

This may solve the erroneous spam identification.
