When will my Google Voice number expire?

I am trying to check if and when my Google Voice number will expire, after having received an email saying that my GV number will expire in 30 days due to non-use. Even though I have made a few *OUTBOUND* phone calls and have sent a few SMS messages, I cannot find any way to check if this expiry issue has now been resolved.

And also if there is an expiry date on my GV number.

Please help!

Hi:

Google Voice doesn't indicate an expiration date to the user.  As long as you make some outbound phone calls or send outbound text messages using your Google Voice number, it won't expire.

Yes, I'm sure that it is wrong if the original carrier that owns the number ports it back without permission.
It is wrong if any provider ports the number without permission.

OK, Great to know that I can keep this number people already have this number important for business and family.
Preston Rainey, You said ..." important for business and family"...

You might consider using a provider that offers direct formal support because things can go wrong and it might be important to you to have business level support.

Google now has a business-class Google Voice offering for G Suite customers.  For more information see this page:  https://cloud.google.com/voice/

Is there anyone you know that has a phone with a US number?
Why are you asking this question?  Just call somebody.  It doesn't matter where they are located in the world.  If you want the call to be free, call somebody in the USA or Canada.

Google Voice is a USA-only service, and attempting to maintain a Google Voice phone number from outside the USA is not supported.  Furthermore, Google Voice numbers are valuable resources.   When a user is not making outbound calls or sending outbound text messages, as intended, Google assumes that the user has abandoned the number, and will reclaim it for reuse with somebody else who will actually use the service.

I obtained a GV number in 2016 but never used it. So I'm sure it was reclaimed. How do I get a new number?

I have a legacy account.

To get a Google number
Your IP address must resolve to a location in the lower 48 United States http://www.ip-adress.com/
Then while logged into your Google account on a computer desktop browser, not a phone browser.
Go to http://www.google.com/voice and follow the prompts then click the link to choose a number
To complete the process you have to verify at least one forwarding phone on the account.
per instructions https://support.google.com/voice/answer/165221?rd=1
The phone will have to be a US number as well.

A Google Voice number is only supported in the United States and a phone with a US number is required in order to use it.
Users outside of the US can use Google Hangouts to make international calls at affordable rates.

I takes me to my call history page. There are no directions to get a new number.
Use the new Google Voice user interface, NOT the "Legacy" user interface, to get a Google Voice number.

That link takes me to a page that says I have had no calls and a dial pad on the right. So I can call out, I guess but I need to know my google voice phone number so that I can give it out.
Kristi, your Google Voice phone number is located at the top right of the page.  See below.
