Unpredictable behavior will result, including other forwarding phones continuing to ring after the call is answered.

Hi Paul: that feature is no longer supported.

The button to press was *, and it only worked on incoming calls. It still works for me. If I'm on my landline and leaving my house, I can press * to transfer the call to my cell phone to continue my conversation.

I didn't see Paul mention being in the VoIP beta, only using the wrong key to transfer calls.
I can't speak for your experience, but only my own. I signed up for the VoIP beta and was accepted. When I saw that it crippled those options, I disabled any VoIP calls (Internet calling) on my account on both the web page, and in the Android app. The option to record calls, and transfer calls still works perfectly on my account. That's all I was saying.

That's not going to be an option much longer, once the beta ends and it rolls out to everyone.

That's too bad, and I'll submit feedback letting them know of my displeasure.
Thanks for the info regarding that, Bluescat.

@Zanzibar "The button to press was *, and it only worked on incoming calls. "
That was the information that helped me. Guess it has to be an incoming call.
