Change your display theme

To make text easier to read, you can increase the contrast level in Google Voice. You can save your device's battery by using dark theme in the Voice app. These settings make changes to only the Voice app.

Turn on high contrast

1. Open the Voice app .
2. At the top left, tap Menu Settings.
3. Under Display Options, turn on High-contrast conversation view.

Turn dark theme on or off

Dark theme is available in the Voice app on Android 10.0 and up. If you turn on dark theme in your Android settings, Voice respects that setting unless you change it here.

1. Open the Voice app .
2. At the top left, tap Menu Settings.
3. Under Display Options, tap Theme.
4. Select the theme for this device:
   • Light—White background with dark text.
   • Dark—Black background with light text.
   • System default—Uses the Android device's setting. Learn about screen & display settings on Android.

When the device is in battery mode, Voice automatically turns on dark theme.
