Use Google Voice with a screen reader

You can do things like make calls, send messages and check your voicemail.

Turn on the screen reader

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Settings Settings.
  2. Tap Accessibility and then TalkBack.
  3. Turn on TalkBack.
  4. Tap OK.

Get to know the settings

In the Google Voice app , you'll see these options at the top:

  • Navigation menu: View things like your account details, settings, call credit and archives.
  • Search tab: Find your calls, messages history and your contacts.
  • Messages tab: Send new messages to people, as well as view old ones.
  • Calls tab: Make phone calls to your contacts and see your call history.
  • Voicemail tab: Listen to voicemail messages left to your phone number.
