Turn Voice notifications on or off

Receive notifications about your text messages, calls or voicemail.

Change your notifications

By default, you'll be notified when there's a new text message, missed call or voicemail in the Google Voice app.

  1. On your Android device, open the Voice app Google Voice.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Under Messages, Calls or Voicemail, tap the notification setting:
    • Message notifications
    • Missed-call notifications
    • Voicemail notifications
  4. Tap On or Off.
  5. If On, set the following options:
    • Importance – Tap, and then select the level of importance for notifications.
    • Sound – Tap, select a ringtone and then tap OK.
    • Vibrate – Turn on or off. Available if Importance is set to High or Urgent.
    • On the lock screen – Tap, and then select the notification content to be shown.
    • Show notification dot – Turn on or off.
    • Override Do not disturb – Turn on or off. Available if Importance is set to High or Urgent.

Receive an email when you miss a call

  1. On your Android device, open the Voice app Google Voice.
  2. At the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Under Calls, turn on Get email alerts for missed calls.
