Setting the number your text message originates from when sending to another Google Voice user
By default, Google Voice text messages you send to another Google Voice number from one of your verified phones will appear as being sent from the verified phone you're using to send the text message. You have the option of displaying your Google Voice number as the sender of the text message.
To edit this preference, visit the Calls tab of your Google Voice Settings. In the 'Caller ID (outgoing)' section, you have the option of the following:
- Don't change anything: keeps your mobile phone number as the sender when sending text messages from your phone to another Google Voice user
- Display my Google Voice number: displays your Google Voice number as the sender when sending a text message to a Google Voice user through your mobile phone
With your Google Voice number displayed as the caller ID out number, your contacts will reply to your Google number. This setting only works from your verified phones that are not shared across accounts.
