  3. Give the representative your Google Voice number to use as the forwarding number.
  4. Before hanging up, check that your voicemails are arriving in your Google Voice inbox:
    • Call your phone and let it ring until it goes to voicemail.
    • Call your phone and reject the call.
    • Turn off your phone and then call it.
Landline phone
Set your landline's voicemail to pick up after 30 seconds. By setting it to this length of time, when people call your landline number, they will be connected to Google voicemail instead of the landline's voicemail.

Help make transcribed voicemails more accurate

Voicemails are automatically transcribed by computer programs. You can donate your voicemails to help us improve the programs. Your account info won't be attached to your voicemails, and no one will listen to them since they're analyzed by machines.

  1. On your computer, open Google Voice.
  2. At the top left, open Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. On the left, click Voicemail.
  4. Switch "Let Google analyze voicemail transcripts" to On On.

You can turn this off any time, and we'll stop using your messages.
