Setting up Google Voice on Sprint

There are two things you should know before you get started:

  • MMS is currently not supported by Google Voice, so MMS sent from your Sprint phone will always display your Sprint number and won't appear in your Google Voice inbox.
  • Any messages currently on your Sprint phone will be deleted. Please make sure you have listened to all your messages before you complete setup. After setup, your Sprint voicemail greeting will no longer exist, so remember to record a new greeting.

Learn how to enable Google Voice on your Sprint phone. Select the option that applies to you and follow the directions based on the type of Google Voice account you have:

It’s as simple as that! Now there are a few important things you should do to get your account fully ready to use. (Learn More)

I already have a Google Voice account and would like to upgrade to Sprint Option 1. Find out how to upgrade based on the type of Google Voice account you currently have:

I have a Google Voice number:

  1. Go to Settings and click the Phones tab.
  2. Next to your Google Voice number, click Change
  3. Select the option to use your mobile number and follow the prompts to complete setup.

If you already have a Google Voice number and you choose to swap it for your Sprint mobile number, your Google Voice number will still work for 90 days. This gives you enough time to tell your contacts that you'll be switching numbers. After three months, your Google Voice number will no longer work. If you don't want to lose your Google number you can keep it permanently for a one time fee of $20.

I only use Google Voice Lite.

  1. Go to Voice Settings and click the Phones tab.
  2. Next to your voicemail number, click Get a Google Voice number.
  3. Click I want to use my mobile number.
