Editing your username
If you use Gmail with your Google Account, it's not currently possible to change your Gmail username after you've registered. You can, however, create another Google Account with a different Gmail username.
If you don't use Gmail with your Google Account, you can change your account username to another email address at any time. Your username is the full email address you used to create your account.
You can't change the email address on your account to a Gmail address, but we invite you to add Gmail to your Google Account.
To change your account username, just follow these steps:
- Visit the Google Accounts homepage.
- Sign in to your account.
- Click the Edit link next to 'Email addresses.'
- Enter your new Google Account username and your current password.
- Click Save email address.
You should receive a verification message at your new email address, and you need to click the verification link in this message to complete the change. For security purposes, you should also get a confirmation email at your old email address.
Note: the account username that you choose needs to be an active, valid email address that you can access.
