Share matters with other Vault users

You can share a matter with other people who work on the same case. For example, a legal assistant might create a matter and search for data, then save the query. The assistant can then share the matter with others so they can access the saved query to view and export the search results.

Note: Your Vault privileges might let you share matters only with members of certain organizational units and their child organizational units.

Share a matter

  1. Click the matter name to open it.
  2. Click Share in the upper right corner. The Permissions field shows users who have access to the matter. At first, only the matter creator has access.
  3. To share the matter with Vault’s automatically generated email:
    1. In the Accounts field, enter the email addresses of the users you want to share the matter with.
    2. Check Send email notifications. To get the notification yourself, also check Send a copy to myself.
    3. Click Save and close.
  4. To share the matter with your own message:
    1. Copy the provided link.
    2. In the Accounts field, enter the email addresses of the users you want to share the matter with.
    3. Uncheck Send email notifications.
    4. Click Save and close.
    5. Compose and send your message with the link.

Stop sharing a matter

  1. Click the matter name to open it.
  2. Click Share in the upper right corner.
  3. In the Permissions field, click Remove next to the user you want to remove. You can't remove a matter's creator.
  4. Click Save and close.
