Overview
Urchin 4 has a robust parsing algorithm that examines the User Agent field (e.g. Web Browser and Platform) in a webserver log. While it can correctly identify a vast majority of the browsers in use, the structure of the actual field itself has no official specification. Therefore, there will be instances where Urchin may have difficulties identifying a Browser properly. This is especially true of the various spiders and robots that continually crawl the Web.
Specific Browser Identification Issues
Here are some known examples of User Agents/Browsers, how they are reported in the webserver log, and how Urchin reports them in the Browsers -> Top Combos report. Future maintenance releases of Urchin will address browser identification issues as they become known.
