How do I remove Apache and Urchin Scheduler services from Windows 2000?
In rare instances, incomplete removal of the Urchin software may leave entries in the Windows 2000 registry for the Urchin Webserver and Urchin Scheduler services even when those services have been removed from the system. To remove the registry entries, use the following procedure:
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows. Use at your own risk.
- Log in as Administrator
- Right click on My Computer and select Manage
Navigate to Services and Applications->Services
- Right click on Urchin Webserver and select Properties
- Under the Startup type, choose Disabled and click OK
- Right click on Urchin Scheduler and select Properties
- Under the Startup type, choose Disabled and click OK
Start the registry editor: Start->Run->regedt32.exe
- Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE window
Navigate to System->CurrentControlSet->Services
Single click on the Urchin6Webserver folder and hit the Delete key
Single click on the Urchin6MasterScheduler folder and hit the Delete key
Single click on the Urchin6SlaveScheduler folder and hit the Delete key
- Close the Registry editor and save your changes
- Reboot your system
- Run Urchin installation file
- Choose "Remove" Urchin and click next
Now Urchin Webserver and Urchin Scheduler services should no longer be referenced and Urchin can be re-installed.
