Google Maps content trust and safety report FAQs

What data is included in the Google Maps content trust and safety report?

This report provides transparency into enforcement outcomes and protections related to user-generated content (including reviews, photos, videos and suggested place edits) submitted to Google Maps by our contributor community. Unless otherwise noted, data in this report is global.

What time period is included in the report?

Data corresponds to the calendar year (1 January to 31 December) selected in the drop-down menu.
  • User contributions: We display content submitted during the year as either published or removed. We capture the status of this content as of 31 January of the following year to account for enforcement actions taken after publication.
  • Account-level actions: We include enforcement actions taken against user accounts or Business Profiles during the year, regardless of when the account was created.

What causes changes in the data between reports?

Reported numbers may fluctuate from year to year for various reasons, including product improvements, external events, changes in abuse patterns, policy and user behaviour.
