Publishing

Google Translator Toolkit lets Wikipedia™ and Knol volunteers publish translations directly back to those sites. Publishing back to Wikipedia™ or Knol can be especially useful for quickly making multilingual versions of those sites more helpful by making articles available in local languages.

Publishing to Wikipedia™

To publish to Wikipedia™:

  1. Sign in to Google Translator Toolkit and open the Wikipedia™ article in the translation editor.
  2. Click Share > Publish to source page.
  3. Google Translator Toolkit opens a new tab that shows the translated article in a preview mode.
  4. If needed, make any final corrections to the article in the edit box at the bottom of the article.
  5. Click Save.

To protect the quality of Wikipedia™ translations, we do not allow users to publish to articles where 50% or more of the content is not human translated.

Google Translator Toolkit supports direct publishing into the following Wikipedia™ languages:

Publishing to Knol

To publish to Knol:

  1. Sign in to Google Translator Toolkit and open the knol in the translation editor.
  2. Click Share > Publish to source page.
  3. Google Translator Toolkit opens a popup that shows the translated article.

Note: if you're using Google Chrome and you don't see the popup, please make sure that the popup has not been blocked by Chrome.

Before you can publish a translated knol, your Google Translator Toolkit account must also be a validated Knol account. To create a validated Knol account:

  1. Sign in to Knol with your Google Account.
  2. Click Write a knol.
  3. Give your knol a title.
  4. Click Save.
    Note: you don't have to publish the knol for your account to be validated by Knol.

After this, you should be able to publish from Google Translator Toolkit to Knol.
