When trying to use camera function in Google Translate app, I get a "Camera input isn't supported"

I tried tapping the camera icon to use the image translation function I've used previously. I continue to get the message, "camera input isn't supported on this device" even though I've used it on this device previously. Using LG Aristo 2, Android 8.1.0

This is a very easy fix. The camera won't work on detect language so you just have to click on that drop down and choose a language then the microphone and the camera will work. When detect language is selected somebody has to talk into it before it can figure out the language.

Hi! Todd Berger. Welcome to Google Translate Forum.

Adding to Glen's excellent comment, did you check if you app is updated on the Play Store?

Best,
