The page you've requested isn't currently available in your language. You can select a different language at the bottom of the page or instantly translate any webpage into a language of your choice, using Google Chrome's built-in translation feature.

Translate a bilingual conversation

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Translate app Translate.
  2. At the bottom, select the languages for your conversation.
  3. At the bottom, tap Conversation .
    • The microphone automatically detects when one language stops and the other language starts.
  4. To hear a translation, tap any part of the text.
  5. To pause or resume translation, tap Speak Speak .
  6. To exit translation, at the top, tap Back Back.

Auto language detection

By default, the language of the speech is detected automatically. To turn off auto detection and enable manual detection:

  1. Tap Auto language detection .
  2. Tap the microphones below either language before speaking.

Face-to-face mode

In face-to-face mode, each speaker can view the transcription and translation of each of their own languages on each half of the screen.

  1. To view translations in face-to-face mode, tap Face to face .
  2. To pause or resume translation, tap Speak Speak.
  3. To exit face-to-face mode, tap Close Close X.

Auto playback

When auto playback is turned on, the app reads translations automatically when a speaker pauses.

  1. At the top of the Translate app, tap Settings
  2. Turn auto playback on or off.

Tip: To adjust the text size, tap Settings . Then, use the slider.
