Translate a bilingual conversation

In some languages, you can use the Google Translate app to translate both sides of a conversation between two languages.

Talk and translate with Google Translate

Step 1: Start the conversation

  1. Open the Translate app Translate.
  2. In the top-left and top-right corners, tap the language shown and then tap a language one of you speaks.
  3. Tap Speak Speak.
  4. Say something and listen for the translation.
  5. Tap Speak Speak.

Step 2: Keep talking

Once you’ve started the conversation, Translate will translate anything said in either language into the other one.

  • To hear a translation again, tap the top text box.
  • To stop or start translating, tap Speak Speak.
  • To finish translating, in the top left tap Back Back.
  • To save translated words in your history, tap Translate Translate.
