Translate by speech

You can translate spoken words and phrases if your device has a microphone. In some languages, you'll hear the translation spoken aloud.

Translate by speech

1. Open the Translate app .
2. At the top, select the languages to translate between.
3. Tap Speak .
   • If this button is grayed out, the spoken language can't be translated.
4. After it says "Speak now," say what you want to translate.

Change your speech settings

1. Open the Translate app .
2. Tap Menu Settings.
3. Pick a setting. For example:
   • To automatically speak translated text, tap Speech input. Then, turn on "Speak output."
   • To translate offensive words, tap Speech input. Then, turn off "Block offensive words."
   • To choose from available dialects, tap Region. Then, select the language and dialect.

Change your audio pace

1. Open the Translate app .
2. Tap Menu   Settings  Speed.
3. Select Normal, Slow, or Slower.
