Translate webpages & documents

On some devices, you can translate entire websites and documents.

Translate websites

  1. On your computer, go to Google Translate.
  2. In the text box, enter a URL.
  3. To choose the language for which you want to translate, at the top right, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  4. At the right, click the URL that appears. The URL will open a new tab and the website will be translated.

Website translation widget

If you are an academic institution, government, non-profit and/or non-commercial website, you may be eligible to sign up for the Google Translate website translator widget. This tool translates web page content into 100+ different languages. To start using the website translator widget, sign up here.

Translate documents

You can translate documents up to 10 MB in size and in any of these formats: .doc, .docx, .odf, .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .ps, .rtf, .txt, .xls, .xlsx.

  1. On your computer, go to Google Translate.
  2. At the top left, click Documents.
  3. Click Browse your computer and find the file that you want to translate.
  4. To choose the language for which you want to translate, at the top right, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  5. Click Translate.

You can translate documents only on medium and large screens. Some original formatting could be lost after translation.
