Translate text messages, webpages, or documents

On some devices, you can translate special content types, like text messages, websites, or documents.

On a computer, you can translate webpages and existing documents.

Translate webpages

  1. Go to Google Translate.
  2. By "Detect language," click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Click the original language to translate from.
  4. Above the gray box on the right, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  5. Click the language to translate to.
  6. In the box on the left, type the web address.
  7. At the top right, click Translate.
  8. To see the translated version of the site: In the box on the right, click on the link.

Translate documents

  1. Go to Google Translate.
  2. By "Detect language", click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Click the original language to translate from.
  4. Above the gray box on the right, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  5. Click the language to translate to.
  6. Below the box on the left, click Translate a document.
  7. Choose the file you want to translate. You can translate these file types: .doc, .docx, .odf, .pdf, .ppt, .pptx, .ps, .rtf, .txt, .xls, .xlsx.
  8. At the top right, click Translate.

Note: Some original formatting can be lost after translation.
