GTFS Best Practices
Required GTFS Information
- You will need the name of the agency and contact details.
- You will need to know what routes or lines you have in your network, what they are called, and the vehicles that operate them.
- You will also need the names of your stops, and their geographical coordinates (in WGS84).
When describing your stops and routes, you should keep it short and consistent with the name and description you use in your own materials and signage. The rule of thumb is that stop names should not contain words like "station" or "stop". Route names should not contain words like "line" or "route".
Route names and stop names should be included in the local language and encoded using UTF-8.
