Block or allow pop-ups using Google Toolbar

On Internet Explorer, you can download Google Toolbar to block or allow pop-up windows on websites.

Block or allow pop-ups

Once you've downloaded Google Toolbar on Internet Explorer, you can block or allow pop-ups:

  1. On the right side of the Toolbar, click the wrench.
  2. Go to the Tools tab.
  3. To block pop-ups, tick the box next to "Pop-up blocker." To allow pop-ups, untick the box next to "Pop-up blocker."
  4. Click Save.

Don't see the wrench? Make sure you have Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer.

See pop-ups for a specific site

Even if you have the pop-up blocker turned on, you can still allow pop-ups from the websites you choose.

  1. Go to the site where you want to allow pop-ups.
  2. In the Toolbar, click the Pop-up blocker button . The button's icon should change to show that pop-ups are allowed .

Pop-up blocker will automatically save the website to an "allowed sites" list for future browsing.

To go back to preventing pop-ups for that site, click the pop-up blocker button again. The icon should switch back to showing that pop-ups are blocked.

See your “allowed sites” list

“Allowed sites” are the sites Toolbar automatically saves any time you allow a pop-up while browsing. If a site is on your allowed sites list, you’ll always be able to see its pop-ups, even if you have pop-up blocker turned on.

To see your list of allowed sites:

  1. On the right side of the Toolbar, click the wrench.
  2. Go to the Tools tab.
  3. Click the Edit link next to the “Pop-up blocker” tick box.

You'll see the list of sites in the "Allowed sites" box. To remove a site from this list, select the site and click Remove site.
