Use AutoFill, tools & settings for faster browsing

You can use these tools to make web browsing easier.

Automatically fill out web forms

You can fill out web forms easily by creating a profile with AutoFill.

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings 
  2. On the left, click AutoFill.
  3. Check AutoFill 
  4. Click Add new profile.
  5. Fill out your information and click Save.

To automatically fill out a web form, on your Toolbar, click AutoFill 

If you have more than one profile:

  1. Next to AutoFill, click the arrow.
  2. Select the profile you'd like to use.

To preview your web form information, you can point your cursor to AutoFill on the Toolbar. You can also point to one of your profiles under the AutoFill drop-down.

To keep your information safe and secure, make sure you use AutoFill only on websites you trust.

Change your AutoFill password

To protect your personal information, you can create a password to use AutoFill.

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings 
  2. On the left, click AutoFill .
  3. In Credit cards, click Forgot password.
  4. Click Yes to clear information.
  5. Next to the credit card you want to use, click Edit.
  6. Edit your credit card number.
  7. Check Require password to access credit card information.
  8. Create a new password.
  9. Click Save.

Turn off AutoFill

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings 
  2. Click AutoFill.
  3. Uncheck AutoFill 

To turn AutoFill back on, follow the steps above and check AutoFill .

If you want to remove your personal information, click Remove next to your saved profiles.
Visit your favorite webpages faster

To quickly visit your favorite webpages, create shortcuts using Bookmarks in Google Toolbar.

  • Bookmarks are stored in your Google Account.
  • If you have bookmarks in Internet Explorer, you can import them to the Bookmarks tool.

Turn on Bookmarks

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings 
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Check Bookmarks .
  4. Click Save.

To turn off Bookmarks, follow the steps above and uncheck Bookmarks .

Add a bookmark

  1. Go to the webpage you want to bookmark.
  2. On your Toolbar, click Bookmarks 
  3. If prompted, sign in to your Google Account.

See your bookmarks

  1. On your Toolbar, click Bookmarks .
  2. A drop-down menu will appear with a list of your bookmarks.

Import Internet Explorer bookmarks into Google Bookmarks

  1. On your Toolbar, click Sign in.
  2. Sign in to your Google Account.
  3. Click the drop-down button next to Bookmark .
  4. Select Import IE Favorites.
  5. Select the bookmarks you'd like to import.
  6. Click Import.
Block pop-ups

You can block pop-ups:

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Check Pop-up blocker.
  4. Click Save.

To allow pop-ups, uncheck Pop-up blocker.

Allow pop-ups for a specific webpage

You can allow pop-ups from webpages you choose.

  1. Visit the webpage where you want to allow pop-ups.
  2. On your Toolbar, click Pop-up blocker .
  3. The icon will change to show that pop-ups are allowed .

Pop-up blocker will save your settings for this webpage for future browsing.

To prevent pop-ups, click the pop-up blocker again.

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings 
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Next to Pop-up blocker, click Edit.

To remove a webpage from this list, select the page and click Remove site.

See the importance of a page

You can use PageRank to see a page’s importance. This is measured by the number and quality of incoming links. The higher a page ranks, the higher it can be found in search results.  

Turn on PageRank

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings 
  2. Click Privacy > Enhanced features.
  3. Check PageRank .
  4. Click Save.

To turn off PageRank, follow the steps above and uncheck PageRank .

See the importance of a page

  1. Open the page you want to check.
  2. On your Toolbar, point your cursor at PageRank .
  3. A tooltip will appear with the PageRank score.
Do a local search

You can use My Location to get local search results. For example, if you share your location with a website that has restaurant reviews, the website can show reviews for restaurants near you.

Turn on My Location

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Check My Location.
  4. Click Save.

To turn off My Location, follow the same steps and uncheck My Location.

You can also share your location:

  1. Visit Google Maps.
  2. Above the zoom slider, click My Location.
  3. To give Google Maps permission to use your location, click Allow.

Turn off My location for a specific website

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Next to My Location, click Edit.
  4. Select the webpage you'd like to remove from the list.
  5. Click Remove site.

To allow a site to use your location without asking for your permission, click Options for this site > Always allow.

Note: Accuracy and coverage will vary by location.
Make webpages open faster

You can make webpages load faster by turning on "pre-fetching":

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click Privacy.
  3. Check Enable pre-fetching to load web pages faster.
  4. Click Save.
To turn off pre-fetching, follow the steps above and uncheck Enable pre-fetching to load web pages faster.
