Translate words and check spelling

You can use Toolbar to translate words and check spelling.

Translate words

You can point your cursor over a word to instantly translate it.

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Check Translate.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Select the language you want to translate into.
  6. Click Save.

To turn off, follow the steps above and uncheck Translate.

Translate webpages


Translate webpages with Google Toolbar (0:26)

Instantly translate a webpage using the Translate button.

You can also translate webpages.

  1. Visit the webpage in a different language than your Toolbar. A translation bar will appear near the top of the page.
  2. On the right of the translation bar, click Translate.

If you want to turn on webpage translation automatically, check Always translate [language] in the translation bar at the top of the page.

If you don’t see the translation bar, click Translate in the Toolbar 

Here are a few other things you can do:

  • To go back to the original language, click Show Original.
  • If you don’t want to translate a page, click the "x" on the right side of the translation bar to close it.
Turn off webpage translation
  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click Tools.
  3. In the "Translate" section, click Edit.
  4. Uncheck Offer page translation when a webpage is not in [language].
  5. Click Save.

To turn off automatic page translation:

  1. In the "Translate section,” click Edit.
  2. In "Auto-translation preferences,” select the languages that you want to remove.
  3. Click Remove preference > Save.

Check spelling

You can correct spelling mistakes while writing on various web pages.

  1. On your Toolbar, click Settings .
  2. Click Tools.
  3. Check Spell check 
  4. Click Save.

To turn spell check off, follow the steps above and uncheck Spell Check.

Check spelling

  1. Type words into a form, email, or forum.
  2. On your Toolbar, click Spell check .

Spelling mistakes are underlined in red. To stop spell check, click the Spell check button again.

Change your spell check language
  1. On your Toolbar, click the arrow next to Spell check  .
  2. Select Choose language.
  3. Select your language.

To make Toolbar detect your spell check language, follow the steps above and select Auto.
