Pre-fetching to load web pages faster

Webpages often contain links to web content on different subdomains or hosts. When you click a link, your browser has to first look up the link's host in order to load the subsequent page. Google Toolbar can save -- or pre-fetch -- the host names for the pages you frequently visit to help make webpages load faster.

Tip: Toolbar regularly clears saved host names, but you can also clear all host names by clearing your browser's history.

Enable or disable pre-fetching

  1. Click Toolbar's wrench wrench icon.
  2. On the Privacy tab, select (or deselect) the "Enable pre-fetching to load web pages faster" checkbox.
  3. Click Save.
