Stop using a security key

If you lose your key or decide you don’t want to use it anymore, you can remove it from your account. After a key is removed from your account, you can’t use it to sign in unless you register it again.

Note: If you’re enrolled in the Advanced Protection Program, you’ll need to turn it off in your Google Account before you can remove all keys.

  1. Go to the 2-Step Verification section of your Google Account. You may need to sign in.
  2. Next to the key you want to remove, select edit Edit.
  3. Select Remove This Key and then OK.

If you remove a key from your account, it can be used again by adding it back to your account or to another account.
