Minimum requirements for citations

If you publish any data derived from surveys run by Google Surveys, including statistics, quotes and/or images, you must cite Google Surveys as the source including the dates the survey ran.

If you would like to use the Google or Google Surveys logo, please submit a request.

AAPOR's Transparency Initiative

Google Surveys is a member of the American Association of Public Opinion Research's (AAPOR) Transparency Initiative, an initiative to establish disclosure standards for organizations who run and publish surveys. Find out more about AAPOR's Transparency Initiative.

We recommend you follow the below transparency guidelines when using Google Surveys.

(1) Link to publicly viewable Google Survey results in your publication

To make your Google Survey results publicly viewable, follow these step-by-step instructions:

  1. Sign in to Google Surveys.
  2. Click the survey you want to view on the survey dashboard.
  3. Click Share Sharing options from your survey results page.
  4. Under Make survey public, click the toggle to set your survey to Publicly viewable.
  5. Click DONE.
  6. Link to the report in your publication.

If you decide to make your data private again at a later time, follow the same steps as above and click Make private.

(2) Add additional information on Google Surveys methodology to your publication

You can include a short description of Google Surveys’ methodology and/or link to the Google Surveys whitepaper.

(3) Report survey sponsorship

Add the survey sponsor in the survey description field:

  1. Sign in to Google Surveys.
  2. Click More More next to the survey that you want to edit.
  3. Click EDIT.
  4. Type the survey sponsor into the Description field.
  5. Click SAVE.
