To play Stadia on Chromecast Ultra, you'll need:
- A Chromecast Ultra
- A Stadia Controller
- A Stadia account
- A TV
- An internet connection with a connection speed of at least 10 megabits per second (Mbps)
First-time setup
Before you set up Stadia on Chromecast Ultra for the first time, you'll need to perform the following steps:
- Set up your Chromecast Ultra.
- Note: For best results, connect your Chromecast Ultra to your router with an Ethernet cable. There's an Ethernet port on the Chromecast Ultra's power adapter.
- Link your Stadia Controller to your Chromecast Ultra.
- Add your Stadia account to your Chromecast Ultra.
Start a game
- On your Stadia Controller, press and hold the Stadia button
to power it on. Stadia will start automatically on the last Chromecast Ultra you linked your controller to.
- Tip: To play on a different Chromecast Ultra, disable auto-linking when you turn on your Stadia Controller. Next, enter the linking code that appears on the TV screen you want to use. If you don't see a linking code, you can make it visible in in your Chromecast Ultra Ambient Mode settings in the Google Home app

- Select your Stadia account.
- Choose a game to play.
- To start your last played game, select Play

- To play a different game, use your Stadia Controller to select a game

Exit a game or shut down Stadia
Exit a game
- On your Stadia Controller, press and hold the Stadia button
.
- Select Exit game.
After you exit a game, you can choose another game from your library to play.
Shut down Stadia
- On your Stadia Controller, press and hold the Stadia button
.
- Select Shut down Stadia.
When Stadia shuts down, your Stadia Controller will vibrate and the light on the Stadia button will turn off.
Link more than one controller
You can link up to 4 Stadia Controllers to play local multiplayer games on Chromecast Ultra. To link multiple Stadia Controllers to a single TV, each player will need to enter the same linking code on their controller. The linking code is unique to each Chromecast.
- On your linked Stadia Controller, press the Stadia button
.
- Select Controller. The linking code will appear.
- On an additional Stadia Controller, press and hold the Stadia button
to power it on.
- When the Stadia button
on an additional controller blinks white, enter the linking code that appears on the TV screen.
Note: If more than one player plugs an audio headset into their Stadia Controller during a local multiplayer game, only one player will hear audio. When that player disconnects their headset, the audio will switch to another player's headset.
Add new friends on Chromecast
- On your Stadia Controller, press the Stadia button
.
- Select Friends.
- Send friend requests to recently met players.

Switch Stadia accounts
You must exit a game before you can switch to a different Stadia account.
- On the Stadia home screen, press and hold Stadia button
.
- Select Switch accounts.
- Select the account you want to switch to.
Cast Stadia to your TV
You can cast Stadia from your computer to your TV using Google Chrome, or from your mobile device using the Stadia app.
Cast from the Stadia app
- On your mobile device, open the Stadia app
.
- Tap the game you'd like to play.
- Tap the dropdown menu
choose your Chromecast Ultra.
- Tap Play
.
Cast from stadia.com
- On your computer using Google Chrome, sign into your account on stadia.com.
- In your browser window, at the top right, click Menu
.
- Click Cast
select your Chromecast Ultra.
Check your connection status
You can check your internet connection status while playing a game on Chromecast Ultra:
- On your Stadia Controller, press the Stadia button
.
- Select Connection.
The connection panel displays information about your connection status, as well as information about 4K, HDR, and 5.1 surround sound.
