To play games on your TV, add your Stadia account to Chromecast Ultra, Google TV, Android TV, or select smart TVs.
- On Chromecast Ultra: Sign into the Stadia app
on your mobile device and link your Stadia Controller to your screen.
- On Google TV or Android TV: Add the Google account you used to sign up for Stadia to your Google TV or Android TV device. Next, use the remote that came with your device or a connected Bluetooth® controller to launch the Stadia app on your TV.
- On a Stadia-compatible smart TV: Install and launch the Stadia app
on your Stadia-compatible smart TV, then sign into the Google Account associated with your Stadia account.
Note: If you use a Stadia Controller or cast from a mobile device, make sure it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV or streaming device.
Add an account to your TV
On Chromecast Ultra
First, find the linking code on your Chromecast Ultra's background screen. If you can't find the linking code:
- On your mobile device, launch the Home app
.
- Select your Chromecast Ultra.
- In the top right, tap Settings
.
- Under "Device settings", tap Ambient mode.
- Scroll down to "Stadia Controller linking code" and tap Show.
Next, add your Stadia account to Chromecast Ultra:
- Use your Stadia Controller to enter the linking code on the TV screen.
- After Stadia launches, select the plus icon (+) on the TV screen.
- In the Stadia app
on your mobile device, tap your avatar in the top right.
- Choose Add account to Chromecast and follow the instructions.
- You'll be asked to create an optional 4-digit security pin on the TV screen. A security pin is helpful if you don't want other people to use your account on the TV.
- Select Add security pin to get started, or Done to skip.
Note: If you receive a message like "Can't connect right now" on your TV, select Try again. Make sure your phone and Chromecast Ultra are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
On Google TV and Android TV
- Use your TV remote to navigate to the Google TV or Android TV settings menu.
- Add the Google account that you used to sign up for Stadia.
- Launch the Stadia app on your TV.
- Choose the account you want to use.
To switch accounts after you sign in:
- Open the system menu:
- On your Stadia Controller, press
. On a Bluetooth controller, press the equivalent face button.
- Press the Back button
on the TV remote that came with Google TV or Android TV.
- You can also press and hold the Stadia button
on your Stadia Controller after you link it to your screen. On some Bluetooth controllers, you can press and hold the Home button.
- On your Stadia Controller, press
- Select Switch accounts.
- Use your TV remote or a Bluetooth controller to pick the account you want to use.
On a compatible smart TV
Remove an account from your TV
On Chromecast Ultra or a smart TV
You can remove your Stadia account from Chromecast Ultra directly on the TV screen.
- Go to the account picker screen.
- If you have a Stadia Controller and are signed into your account, press and hold the Stadia button
and select Switch accounts.
- If you don't have a Stadia Controller linked to your screen, you can launch the Stadia app on your TV to go to the account picker.
- If you have a Stadia Controller and are signed into your account, press and hold the Stadia button
- On the account picker screen, select the account you want to remove.
- On your Stadia Controller, press
.
- If you use a third-party controller, press the equivalent face button.
- Select Remove account.
If you have Chromecast Ultra, you can also remove your Stadia account in your Google settings.
On Google TV and Android TV
Remove the Google account associated with your Stadia account from your Google TV or Android TV device.
