Redeem a Stadia invite code

Where is my Stadia Founder's Edition, Buddy Pass, or Pro Pass invite code?

If you purchased a Founder's Edition, or received an invite code with another hardware purchase, you would have received the code in an email. You can also receive a Buddy Pass invite code from a friend, or a Pro Pass invite code with special promotions.

How do I use my invite code?

A valid invite code can be redeemed for a 3-month Stadia Pro trial subscription when you create your Stadia account. Some invite codes can also be redeemed on an existing account.

Redeem an invite code when you create an account

To redeem your invite code when you create a new Stadia account, you'll need a computer with Google Chrome or a mobile device with the Stadia app Stadia icon installed. You can download the Stadia app Stadia icon from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

To redeem your invite code and create your account:

On stadia.com

  1. On a computer using Google Chrome, visit stadia.google.com/setup.
  2. Select Try now.
  3. Sign in with the Google Account you want to use.
  4. Enter the invite code that was sent to you.
  5. Select Confirm.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to create your Stadia account.

On your mobile device

  1. On your mobile device, open the latest version of the Stadia app Stadia icon.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you want to use.
  3. Enter the invite code that was sent to you.
  4. Tap Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to create your Stadia account.

Share or redeem Stadia with a Buddy Pass invite code

Stadia Founders can grant a three-month trial of Stadia Pro to a friend by sending them a Buddy Pass. Redeeming a Buddy Pass gets you these perks:

  • 3 months of a Stadia Pro subscription (Note: A credit card will be required)
  • Access to free games, discounts, and 4K HDR streaming during the 3-month subscription period and for as long as you're subscribed.

Note: If the Founder who gave you your Buddy Pass returns their Founder's Edition, any unused Buddy Pass invite codes will become invalid.

Find and share the Buddy Pass invite code

Shortly after you receive your Stadia package, a Buddy Pass invite code will be generated. When the Buddy Pass is ready, your Stadia app will have a new ticket.

To find and share the Buddy Pass invite code:

  1. On your mobile device, open the latest version of the Stadia app Stadia icon.
  2. Tap the ticket and then Send code.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts and choose how you'd like to send the invite code.

Redeem the Buddy Pass invite code

When you create a new Stadia account, you can redeem your Buddy Pass at stadia.com or on your mobile device using the Stadia app Stadia icon. To unlock Stadia with your Buddy Pass invite code, follow the instructions at the top of this article.

Redeem a code on an existing account

If you have a Stadia account, you can redeem a valid code on stadia.com to extend your existing Stadia Pro subscription, or start a trial subscription if you aren't a Pro subscriber yet.

To redeem a code:

  1. Sign into your account at stadia.com.
  2. In the top right, select your avatar and then Stadia settings.
  3. On the left, select Redeem code.
  4. Enter your 16-digit code into the "Code" box and select Submit.
  5. If the code is valid, a confirmation box will appear.
  6. Select Redeem.

Note: If the code cannot be redeemed, a message will appear with an explanation. For example, you might not be able to redeem a code if it is invalid, or if you have a supervised account that requires family group manager approval before you can redeem it.

Rules and restrictions

  • Each unique code can only be redeemed once.
  • You can only redeem one type of Stadia Pro code on the same account. For example:
    • If you redeemed a code that came with a Founder's Edition, you won't be able to redeem a code that came with a Premiere Edition. However, you would be able to redeem either one (1) Buddy Pass code or one (1) Pro Pass code on the account.
    • If you have a trial Stadia Pro subscription and have never redeemed a code on your account, you can redeem one (1) Founder's or Premiere code and also one (1) Buddy or Pro pass code.
  • If you're a supervised member of a family group and attempt to redeem a code, a request will be sent to the family group manager. The family group manager will need to approve the request before the code is redeemed on the account.
  • If you cancel your Stadia Pro subscription and then redeem a valid code on your account, your subscription will be extended to a new cancellation date.
  • If your Stadia Pro subscription payment is still processing, you may not be able to redeem a code until the payment is finished processing.
