What is Stadia?
Stadia is Google's cloud-based gaming platform that lets you play your favorite hit video games across screens instantly.

How do I sign up for Stadia?
Before you sign up for Stadia, you'll need a Google Account. If you don't have a Google Account, it's easy to create one. Next, sign up on stadia.com. You can also sign up on your mobile device using the Stadia app Stadia icon.

Do I need a code to sign up for Stadia?
No. You don't need an invite code to create a Stadia account or play games. However, if you do have a valid code, you can choose to redeem it when you create your Stadia account. Learn more about redeeming codes.

What do I need in order to play games?
After you create your Stadia account, you can play games on a TV using Chromecast Ultra, a computer using Google Chrome, or a supported mobile device.

You can use the Stadia Controller to play on any of these devices. You can also play with some third-party gamepads, or with a mouse and keyboard if you're using a computer. If you're playing on a mobile device, you can choose to play using your device's touch screen instead of a controller.

What are the benefits of playing games on Stadia?
Stadia gives you instant access to games on virtually any screen, with no waiting to download patches or platform updates.

At what quality can Stadia stream content?
Stadia can stream supported games up to 4K HDR and 60 FPS quality for Stadia Pro subscribers. Non-subscribers can stream games up to 1080p and 60 FPS. Like any other Internet streaming experience, higher quality connections will result in the best experience.

What is Stadia Pro?
A Stadia Pro subscription unlocks a growing collection of free games to play on Stadia. Sign up for Stadia today to receive a Stadia Pro trial subscription, which includes an assortment of free games you can play right now. Build a library of games that you can access as long as you're a Stadia Pro subscriber. You'll continue to get more free games to add to your collection every month.

How do I cancel my Stadia Pro subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time on the Stadia website or in the Stadia app Stadia icon.

I tried to sign up for Stadia, but got a notification that Stadia is full. What does that mean?
It means that Stadia is currently at capacity in your area to new users. Please try to sign up again within the next few days. If you received an invite code with a bundle or promotion, you can redeem it when you sign up to create an account even if Stadia is temporarily full in your area.

What colors are available for the Stadia Controller?
Available colors for the Stadia Controller include Wasabi, Clearly White, and Just Black.

How is Stadia approaching internet traffic responsibly during these trying times?
For Stadia, we've always adjusted bandwidth use based on a variety of in-home and local internet factors, and to reduce load on the internet further, we plan to roll out a temporary feature that changes your Performance settings from Up to 4K to Up to 1080p.

If you've already selected Up to 1080p or Up to 720p, your setting won't be changed. If you're playing on a desktop or a laptop, you won't notice a difference in gameplay quality unless you meet the requirements for playing in 4K. You can change your setting back to Up to 4K at any time if you have an active Stadia Pro subscription.

Are you planning on having First Party content?
Yes! We've announced our Stadia Games and Entertainment studio. Stay tuned for more information about our first party content.

Requirements & availability

Is Stadia region-locked, or can I access Stadia in any of the countries where it's available?
We strive to make all games available in countries where Stadia is available. In some cases, publishers may elect not to make their games available in all countries.

Which Chromecast devices are compatible with Stadia?
Currently, any Google Chromecast Ultra is compatible with Stadia. Learn more about Stadia on Chromecast. Stay tuned for future announcements regarding additional device compatibility.

What's the minimum internet speed I need to use Stadia?
We recommend an internet speed of at least 10 Mbps for a 720p experience on Stadia, and at least 35 Mbps to play in 4K. Learn more about data usage and requirements for playing Stadia on your network.

Do I need to use the Stadia Controller to play games on Stadia?
To play on your TV using Google Chromecast Ultra, you'll need a Stadia Controller. To play on a computer using Google Chrome or on a mobile device, other control options are available.

Can the Stadia Controller be used on other platforms?
We've designed the Stadia Controller to work best on Stadia. When plugged in with a USB cable, the Stadia Controller acts as a standard USB HID controller and may work on other platforms depending on the game and setup.

What audio options are supported by the Stadia Controller?
The Stadia Controller has a 3.5 mm audio jack, a built-in microphone, and additional audio features.

I'm located in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Can I play on Stadia?
Stadia is available in some U.S. territories. Stay tuned for updates about Stadia availability in your area.

How many controllers can I use at the same time?
Your Stadia account supports up to 4 Stadia Controllers during local multiplayer game play.

Which mobile devices (tablets and phones) support Stadia?
Stadia gameplay is supported on compatible mobile devices. Stadia also supports Chrome OS tablets. In the future, other devices will be made available. Note that you can purchase Stadia games and manage your content from any iOS 11+ or Android M+ device that can run the Stadia app.

Does the Stadia Controller only connect to phones and tablets using Wi-Fi, or can I connect using USB-C?
The Stadia Controller uses BLE for setup, then connects via Wi-Fi for gameplay. When you connect your Stadia Controller to your phone, tablet, or computer, you can use a USB cable plugged into the Stadia Controller's USB-C port. Stadia Pro trial subscription

How can I get a trial subscription to Stadia Pro?
Anyone signing up for Stadia Pro for the first time is eligible for this limited-time offer. If you don't have a Stadia account, you can sign up for the Stadia Pro trial when you create your account.

If you already have a Stadia account but have never subscribed to Stadia Pro, you'll be eligible for the trial subscription when you sign up for Pro.

To sign up, you'll need a valid payment method associated with the Google Account you link to Stadia. You can cancel your subscription at any time. Terms apply.

Do I have to sign up for a Stadia Pro subscription when I create a new Stadia account?
For a limited time, when you create a new Stadia account you'll be eligible for a 1-month trial subscription to Stadia Pro. If you have a Stadia account but not an active Stadia Pro subscription, and you've never subscribed to Stadia Pro, you can still receive the offer when you subscribe.

I don't have a Stadia account. Am I eligible for the trial if I don't have an invite code?
Yes. If you live in one of our supported countries and sign up for a Stadia account, you'll be eligible for the trial subscription offer for a limited time.

I've created an account, redeemed my invite code, and signed up for Stadia Pro. Can I get a refund and sign up for the trial instead?
If you've ever subscribed to Stadia Pro, or ever received a trial subscription, you won't be able to receive the 1-month trial subscription.

I already have a Stadia account and am a paid Stadia Pro subscriber. Am I eligible for the trial subscription?
If you've ever subscribed to Stadia Pro, or ever received a trial subscription, you won't be able to receive the trial subscription.

I signed up for Stadia Pro and received a 3-month trial subscription. After my trial ended, I was charged, but now there's a 1-month trial available. Can I receive one month of Pro?
You can only receive the 1-month Stadia Pro trial subscription if you've never subscribed to Stadia Pro, and never received a trial subscription.

I have a Stadia account, but I don't have an active Stadia Pro subscription. Can I still receive a trial subscription?
For a limited time, anyone who has never subscribed to Stadia Pro, and never received a trial subscription, will be eligible to receive the trial subscription when they sign up for Pro. If you've ever been an active Pro subscriber, or previously received a trial subscription, you won't be eligible for the offer.

I cancelled my Stadia Pro subscription. Can I still get a trial subscription?
No. You can only receive a Stadia Pro trial subscription if you've never subscribed to Stadia Pro, and have never received a trial subscription.

What happens after my trial subscription ends?
After your trial subscription ends, the payment method associated with your account will be charged automatically during the next billing period, unless you cancel your subscription.

Features

Can I change the language of the Stadia Platform?
For web and cast (living room) experiences, your Stadia language will be the same as on your Google Account. For mobile experiences, the language will reflect that of the OS on your mobile device.

What screens can I play on?
You can play Stadia on your TV using Chromecast Ultra, a computer using Google Chrome, or on supported mobile devices.

How much network data does Stadia use? How can I tell how much data I'm using?
You can choose data usage and performance settings for each device you use. How much data you use will depend on a number of factors, including which setting you choose.

Does Stadia have cross-platform play?
We're committed to developing an accessible and welcoming environment for all gamers and plan on working with top-tier developers, including those who want to enable cross-platform play.

How many players can play a Stadia game on the same screen at the same time?
The number of players depends on the game you're playing. Stadia supports full multiplayer titles, as well as couch-based co-op and single-player titles.

More than one person in my home has a Stadia account. How many people can play on different devices on the same network?
Running more than one Stadia stream on the same local network is not recommended. However, you can easily switch to a different device on the same account. Some Stadia games also support multiplayer gameplay on a single device.

Will I lose my game progress if there's a problem with my Internet connection?
If you happen to lose connection, Stadia will maintain the game where it got cut off for several minutes so you can quickly get back online without losing progress. If your bandwidth fluctuates, Stadia will adjust to deliver the best possible visual quality at all times.

Account & purchase information

How much does Stadia cost?
You can create a Stadia account at no cost. You can also purchase games, bundles, and subscriptions, or claim free games with an active Stadia Pro subscription. For more details about Stadia pricing, go to the Stadia page on the Google Store.

What countries can I play in?
You can play Stadia from any of the countries where it's available. Stay tuned for more information about country availability.

If I buy games in a supported country, can they be played in a non-supported country?
Not all games will necessarily be available in all countries. Stay tuned for news about the next countries where we'll launch.

Can I change the email address associated with my Stadia account? If I change my email address after I start playing, can my games and content be migrated to a new account?
After you create your Stadia profile, you won't be able to change the email address or Google Account associated with it.

I have a Stadia account. Is there a limit on how many compatible devices I can use?
You can play on any compatible device, but you can only have one session active at a time across all your devices.

I purchased a bundle that included a Stadia Pro code. If I return the bundle, will I be refunded? Will my subscription be cancelled?
If you return all of the contents of the bundle within 15 calendar days after the day you received it, your Stadia Pro subscription will be cancelled and you'll be refunded for your purchase. Returning the bundle also means you'll lose access to the games you claimed as a Stadia Pro subscriber.

What happens to the Pro games I claimed if my Stadia Pro subscription or trial subscription ends?
If you no longer have an active Stadia Pro subscription, you'll lose access to the games that you claimed as part of your Stadia Pro subscription. If you resubscribe to Stadia Pro, you'll regain access to any Pro games you claimed in the past. However, you won't be able to claim any games that were available to Pro subscribers while you were unsubscribed.

What happens to the games I purchased if my Stadia Pro subscription or trial subscription ends?
You'll still be able to access and play the games you purchased when you no longer have an active Stadia Pro subscription. Note that non-subscribers can stream games only up to 1080p resolution and 60 FPS.

If a publisher stops supporting Stadia, can I still play the games I bought from that publisher?
Yes. Once you purchase a game, you own the right to play it. In the future, it's possible that some games may no longer be available for new purchases, but existing players will still be able to play them. Outside of unforeseen circumstances, Stadia will aim to keep any previously purchased title available for gameplay.

Can I check the status of my game developer application?
We're prioritizing a great developer experience for each team that gets access to Stadia development resources.
