What is Stadia?
Stadia is Google's cloud-based gaming platform that lets you play your favorite video games instantly across compatible TVs, computers, and mobile devices, with no waiting to download games, patches, or platform updates.

How do I create an account and play games?
Create a Stadia account here. For setup instructions, refer to the Stadia Quick Start Guide.

Do I need a code to create a Stadia account or play games?
No. You don't need a code to create a Stadia account or play games. If you have a Stadia Pro subscription code, redeem it after you create your account.

Which resolutions and framerates are supported on Stadia?
Stadia can stream supported games up to 4K HDR and 60 FPS quality for Stadia Pro subscribers. Non-subscribers can stream games up to 1080p and 60 FPS. The maximum frame rate and resolution can vary, depending on the game and your connection speed.

How can I get the best streaming experience when I play games on Stadia?
Refer to Stadia's hardware requirements to learn how to get the best gameplay experience, including how to check your network speed and stream quality, as well as tips for using Stadia Pro features like 4K, HDR, and surround sound. Note that a higher quality connection will result in the best experience.

What are the benefits of a Stadia Pro subscription?
With a Stadia Pro subscription, you can add a growing collection of games to your Stadia library every month at no additional charge as long as you're an active subscriber. You'll also be able to stream select games at up to 4K HDR and 60 FPS quality, and get 5.1 surround sound on select games with compatible hardware.

I can't create a Stadia account because I got a notification that it's "full." What does this mean?
It means that Stadia is currently at capacity in your area to new users. Please try to create an account again within the next few days.

Requirements & availability

Can I play on Stadia from anywhere in the world?
You can create a Stadia account and play games from any of the countries where it's available.

Can I play all of my games in every country where Stadia is available?
We strive to make all games available wherever Stadia is available, but in some cases publishers might choose to make their games available only in specific countries.

What's the minimum internet speed I need to use Stadia?
We recommend an internet speed of at least 10 Mbps for a 720p experience on Stadia, and at least 35 Mbps to play in 4K. Learn more about data usage and requirements for playing Stadia on your network.

Is there a way for me to check how Stadia will work with my network connection?
Yes. Test your connection speed today to check if it meets the bandwidth requirements for Stadia, then create an account and try select games at no charge.

Which TVs, streaming devices, computers, and mobile devices can I use with Stadia?
You can play games on Chromecast Ultra, Chromecast with Google TV, select Android TV devices, computers, select mobile devices, and select smart TVs. Refer to the full list of Stadia-compatible devices.

How do I connect a Stadia Controller to a compatible screen to play games?
The Stadia Controller uses Bluetooth LE for setup, then connects to your Wi-Fi network to play on a device connected to the same network. If you want to connect your Stadia Controller to a compatible phone, tablet, computer, or smart TV, you can plug a USB cable into the Stadia Controller's USB-C port.

I already have a third-party controller. How can I make it work with Stadia?
You can connect a compatible third-party controller to a compatible streaming device with Bluetooth or a USB cable. If your device doesn't support Bluetooth or USB, you can connect a third-party controller to your screen through your mobile device with Phone Link.

Do I need to use the Stadia Controller to play games on Stadia?
Only in some cases. To play on your TV using Google Chromecast Ultra, you'll need a Stadia Controller. To play on a computer using Google Chrome or on a mobile device, other control options are available.

Can the Stadia Controller be used on other platforms?
We designed the Stadia Controller to work best on Stadia. When plugged in with a USB cable, the Stadia Controller acts as a standard USB HID controller and might work on other platforms, depending on the game and setup.

What audio options are supported by the Stadia Controller?
The Stadia Controller has a 3.5 mm audio jack, a built-in microphone, and additional audio features.

How many controllers can I use at the same time?
Your Stadia account supports up to four Stadia Controllers during local multiplayer gameplay.

Stadia Pro trial subscription

How can I get a trial subscription to Stadia Pro?
Anyone who signs up for Stadia Pro for the first time is eligible for a limited-time trial subscription. If you don't have a Stadia account, you can sign up for the Stadia Pro trial when you create your account.

If you have a Stadia account but have never subscribed to Stadia Pro, you'll be eligible for the trial subscription when you sign up for Pro.

To sign up, you'll need a valid payment method associated with the Google Account you link to Stadia. You can cancel your subscription at any time. Terms apply.

Do I have to sign up for a Stadia Pro subscription when I create a new Stadia account?
No. However, for a limited time you'll be eligible for a 1-month trial subscription to Stadia Pro. If you have a Stadia account but not an active Stadia Pro subscription, and you've never subscribed to Stadia Pro, you can still receive the offer when you subscribe.

I already have a Stadia account and signed up for an active Stadia Pro subscription. Can I get a refund and sign up for the trial instead?
No. If you've ever subscribed to Stadia Pro, or ever received a trial subscription, you won't be able to receive the 1-month trial subscription.

I signed up for Stadia Pro and received a 3-month trial subscription. After my trial ended, I was charged, but now there's a 1-month trial available. Can I receive another month of Pro?
You can only receive the 1-month Stadia Pro trial subscription if you've never subscribed to Stadia Pro, and you've never received a trial subscription.

I have a Stadia account, but not an active Stadia Pro subscription. Can I still receive a trial subscription?
For a limited time, anyone who has never subscribed to Stadia Pro before, and never received a trial subscription, will be eligible to receive the trial subscription when they sign up for Pro. If you've ever been an active Pro subscriber, or previously received a trial subscription, you won't be eligible for the offer.

How do I cancel my Stadia Pro subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time on the Stadia website or in the Stadia app Stadia icon.

I canceled my Stadia Pro subscription. Can I still get a trial subscription?
No. You can only receive a Stadia Pro trial subscription if you've never subscribed to Stadia Pro before, and have never received a trial subscription.

What happens after my trial subscription ends?
After your trial subscription ends, the payment method associated with your account will be charged automatically during the next billing period, unless you cancel your subscription.


Can I change the language of the Stadia Platform?
Yes. To change your Stadia language on computers and TVs, change the language in your Google Account settings. On a mobile device, change the language in the device's settings app.

How much network data does Stadia use? How can I tell how much data I'm using?
You can choose data usage and performance settings for each device you use. How much data you use will depend on a number of factors, including which setting you choose.

What is Stadia's approach to cross-platform play?
We're committed to developing an accessible and welcoming environment for all gamers and plan to continue working with top-tier developers, including those who want to enable cross-platform play.

How many players can play a Stadia game on the same screen at the same time?
The number of players depends on the game you're playing. Stadia supports full multiplayer titles, as well as couch-based co-op and single-player titles.

More than one person in my home has a Stadia account. How many people can play on different devices on the same network?
Running more than one Stadia stream on the same local network is not recommended. However, you can easily switch to a different device on the same account, or stream with different accounts on different devices. Some games on Stadia also support multiplayer gameplay on a single device.

Can I live stream my games?
Yes. When you're playing a game on, you can livestream your game directly to your YouTube channel. You can also stream with third-party software like OBS.

Will I lose progress in my game if there's a problem with my Internet connection?
If you happen to lose connection, Stadia will maintain the game where it got cut off for several minutes so you can quickly get back online without losing progress. If your bandwidth fluctuates, Stadia will adjust to deliver the best possible visual quality at all times.

Account & purchase information

How much does Stadia cost?
You can create a Stadia account at no charge. You can also purchase games, bundles, and subscriptions, or claim games as part of your active Stadia Pro subscription. For more details about Stadia pricing, go to the Stadia page on the Google Store.

Can I change the email address I use to sign into my Stadia account? If I change my email address after I create an account, can my games and content be migrated to a different email address?
After you create your Stadia account, you won't be able to change the email address associated with it.

What is a Stadia Name? Can I change it?
Your Stadia Name is what's displayed to other people when you're playing games or chatting on Stadia. You can sign into and change your Stadia Name once every 180 days.

Is there a limit on how many Stadia-compatible devices I can use at the same time?
You can play on any compatible device, but you can only play one game at a time across any of your devices.

I purchased a bundle that included a Stadia Pro code. If I return the bundle, will I be refunded? Will my subscription be cancelled?
If you return all of the contents of the bundle within 15 calendar days after the day you received it, your Stadia Pro subscription will be cancelled and you'll be refunded for your purchase. Returning the bundle also means you'll lose access to the games you claimed as a Stadia Pro subscriber.

What happens to the Pro games I claimed if my Stadia Pro subscription or trial subscription ends?
If you no longer have an active Stadia Pro subscription, you'll lose access to the games that you claimed as part of your Stadia Pro subscription. If you resubscribe to Stadia Pro, you'll regain access to any Pro games you claimed in the past. However, you won't be able to claim any games that were available to Pro subscribers while you were unsubscribed.

What happens to the games I purchased if my Stadia Pro subscription or trial subscription ends?
You'll still be able to access and play the games you purchased when you no longer have an active Stadia Pro subscription. Note that non-subscribers can stream games only up to 1080p resolution and 60 FPS.

If a publisher stops supporting Stadia, can I still play the games I bought from that publisher?
Yes. In the future, it's possible that some games might no longer be available for new purchases, but existing players will still be able to play them. Outside of unforeseen circumstances, Stadia will aim to keep any previously purchased title available for gameplay.
