Stadia game demos

If you have a Stadia account, you can play demos of Stadia games at no extra charge. Demos consist of limited content, and each demo will be available to play for a limited time.

You don't need a Stadia Pro subscription to play game demos.

How do I play a game demo?

Before you can play a game demo, you'll need to create a Stadia account.

To play a demo:

  1. Sign into your Stadia account and then select Store.
  2. Select a game with 'demo' in its title.
  3. Select Play and then Play Stadia Play button.

After you launch the demo, it will appear in your library, and can be played at no charge for the duration of the demo period.

Purchasing or pre-ordering the full game

In some cases, you can purchase or pre-order the full game in the Stadia Store. To purchase or pre-order, you can exit the demo and then select View game. You can also go to the Stadia store, select the full game or bundle, and select Buy or Pre-order.

Can I access the whole game during the demo?
Game demos consist of limited content that may be changed or removed by the time the full game is released for purchase. Check with the game's developer for more information.

Please note that consumable add-ons, such as in-game currency, won't be included in game demos.

Is my game saved when I play a demo? Will it carry over into the full game?
No. Your progress in a game demo will not carry over into the full game.

Can I unlock achievements when I play a game demo?
No. You won't be able to unlock achievements in game demos.

What happens to the demo after the demo period is over?
At the end of the demo period, the demo will no longer appear in your library, but you may have the option to pre-order or purchase the full game in the Stadia store.

I captured screenshots or clips of the game demo. Can I access them after my demo period ends?
Yes. Any clips or screenshots that you capture during a game's demo period will be retained on your account.

I'm a member of a family group. Do I need a family manager's permission to play a game demo?
If you have a supervised account, you can play game demos. However, you'll have to request your family manager's permission to play the demo for the first time, and you won't be able to play the game demo if it has a content rating that has been restricted for you by your family manager.
