Enter a question

To give Socratic a question, you can take a photo of a problem, type it out, or use voice input.

Photo input

Follow these instructions to use your phone's camera to enter a question or explanation into Socratic:

  1. Open the Socratic app.

  2. Tap Photo Camera .

  3. Take a picture of the question or explanation with your phone's camera.

  4. Crop the image to only include the section you want to ask about. To crop the image, drag the corners.

  5. Tap Go and Socratic analyzes the photo.

  6. Socratic presents the most relevant resources to help you understand your topic.

  7. Scroll down to see more resources to help you understand the topic.

Note: You must allow Socratic access to your phone's camera to use this feature.

Text input

Follow these instructions to use your phone's digital keyboard to enter a question into Socratic:

  1. Open the Socratic app.

  2. Tap Search .

  3. Use the keyboard to type out the question.

  4. Tap Search on the keyboard and Socratic analyzes the question.

  5. Socratic presents the most relevant resources to help you understand your question.

  6. Scroll down to see more resources to help you understand the question.

Voice input

Follow these instructions to use your phone's microphone to enter a question into Socratic:

  1. Open the Socratic app.

  2. Tap Mic .

  3. Speak the question into your phone's microphone.

  4. When you stop talking, Socratic translates your words into text and analyzes your question.

  5. Socratic presents the most relevant resources to help you understand your question.

  6. Scroll down to see more resources to help you understand the question.
