Images not wrapping within page when viewed in Chrome 1 Recommended Answer 5 Replies 2 Upvotes

Images are not wrapping round within the page. They look fine in edit mode but when published they just scroll off the page to the right.

Curiously the problem only appears in Chrome. When viewed in Microsoft Edge they wrap around perfectly. See attached screenshots.

This has started happening recently on all the pages on my website which uses images inserted via URL from my shared Google Photos albums.

You should look to move to new Google Sites as it handles this issue much better than classic Sites.

Thank you for your response Steegle. I have looked at New Sites but it doesn't appear to support all the features I currently utilise in Classic Sites eg. Recent Announcements, File Cabinets.

In the meantime I'm stuck with Classic and I can't understand why the images wrapping problem has suddenly started when viewing in Chrome (in the last couple of weeks) even though in Microsoft Edge, Firefox and Safari they continue to show up fine.

Any thoughts?

Well after some investigation it looks like Chrome is displaying it correctly for the code you have (although not want you want and the other browsers are displaying it incorrectly.

In between each image you have in the HTML

I don't know how much HTML you know but that's a special character called a "non-breaking space" and as the title suggests it there to give a space that doesn't "break", i.e. does not wrap on to a new line.  If you remove these from the HTML it wraps as you want it to.

Hi Steegle

Thank you so much for looking into this. I can see now that I am able to fix each page by loading the HTML into Notepad and replace all ' ' with a space. Wonderful!

On a side note, do you know if New Sites is planning to include the Recent Announcements and File Cabinet features that we use in Classic?

Are they planning to discontinue support for Classic Sites (or turn it off all together) at some date?
