Is a fix for "Insert Google+ Photo Album" gadget pending?

Now that Google has completely "moved on" from Picasa to Google Photos, will the "Insert Google+ Photo Album" gadget in Google Sites be revised to use Google Photos?  It no longer works "as is" since it was designed/coded to use Google Picasa.
See attached for more details of how "Insert Google+ Photo Album" fails with either option to select a slideshow icon or add in the URL of the photos.google.com shared album.

Current workaround is to create a YouTube slideshow (Upload - look for Slideshow icon lower right hand side of form - etc.. and then use Google Sites - Insert -> YouTube - It works but with extra steps and loss of ability to stop slideshow and step thru photos individually since it is now a video..)

See attached for draft notes provided to our club photographer on how to use photos.google.com & then create a video using YouTube.  I add the video to our club website   http://www.samenasquares.org/club-photos

Our latest photo entry is a YouTube video while prior slideshows are using the defunct picasa web albums with an RSS feed method notes provided by another forum member.

Does anyone know if "Insert Google+ Photo Album" - Google Sites gadget is being adapted to work with photos.google.com - Share Albums???  (Maybe the web vs social media is becoming old hat/school and will fade away....)

Hello k8oms - You are welcome to use my draft instructions.  I will try to add any updates. If you still have contacts with the Google Sites team, please let them know that we could love to see "Insert Google+ Photo Album" updated to work with photos.google.com Shared Albums.  If they do not have time to update the gadget, it may be best for them to remove it - since it is outdated and not functioning.... Best Regards

Yes the sites engineers are aware of the problem but there seems to be a problem taking care of it. Maybe they are busy working on the new sites platform.

Hello k8oms - that makes sense.  With the new Google Sites in beta with early corporate clients & super admins, the old Google Sites code is probably not getting updated.  We will have to wait and see if the new Google Sites has a slideshow feature that works with photos.google.com. Some of the other features advertised for the corporate subscribers looks cool.

Another cool trick: You can use annotations as a way to switch between photos!
