Create a page

You can create any number of pages on your Google site. Sites work best with 1,000 or fewer pages and attachments.

This article is for the classic Google Sites (no “Publish” button at the top right). Get help for the new Google Sites.

Create a blank page

  1. Open your website in Google Sites.
  2. In the top right corner, click Create page New page.
  3. Name the page.
  4. If you want to pick your own URL, click Change URL.
  5. Choose a page template.
  6. Under "Select a location," select where to put the page. You can only create up to 500 pages as "subpages" of another page.
  7. Click Create.
  8. To change the page layout, click Layout and choose an option.
Choose a type of page

You can use these default templates to make creating pages easier.

  • Web page: Use to create a simple page containing text and images, embedded gadgets, and standard text formatting controls.
  • Announcements: Use to create a page for announcements, blog posts, or other updates arranged from newest to oldest.
  • File cabinet: Use for a list of files you’ve uploaded to your site. Anyone who’s subscribed to the page is notified when you add, change, or remove attached files.
  • List: Use for an itemized list you use to keep track of tasks as you finish them.
  • Start page: Use for a page with a set of embedded gadgets chosen for the user. You’ll need to use a work or school account.
Copy a page
  1. Sign in to Google Sites with your Google Account.
  2. On the Google Sites homepage, click your site.
  3. Click the page you want to copy.
  4. Click More actions More actions and then Copy page.
  5. Name the page.
  6. If you want to pick your own URL, click Change URL.
  7. Under "Select a location," select where to put the page.
  8. Click Copy.
Show links to other pages

You can show a list of all child pages at the bottom of your page.

  1. Sign in to Google Sites with your Google Account.
  2. On the Google Sites homepage, click your site.
  3. Click the page you want to add links to.
  4. Click More actions More actions and then Page settings.
  5. Check Show links to sub-pages.
  6. Click Save.
