Add Google files, video & more
You can add Google files, YouTube videos, and other content to your site.*
Important: If a file is stored on a shared drive or has restricted sharing permissions, only people with access will be able to see the file. Learn how to change sharing permissions of your Google files.
Note: This section is for new Google Sites (at the bottom right, you'll see Create ). Get help with classic Google Sites.
Add Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms and Charts
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the right, click Insert.
- Under "Google Docs," choose the type of file you want to add.
- Choose a file and click Insert.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Add YouTube videos, calendars & maps
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the right, click Insert.
- Under "Google Embeds," choose the type of file you want to add.
- Choose a video, calendar, or place and click Select or Insert.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Add a file from your computer
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the right, click Insert
Upload.
- Choose a file from your computer
click Open.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Add a file from Google Drive
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- On the right, click Insert.
- Under "Google Drive," click From Drive.
- Choose a file and click Insert.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Add content from another website
You can add web addresses, Google Apps Scripts, Data Studio reports, and App Maker apps.
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the right, click Insert
Embed.
- Enter the URL you want to embed.
- Click Insert.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Note: Some websites won’t let you add their content to your site. If you can’t add content, contact the website’s owner.
Add HTML, CSS, or JavaScript code to your site
- On a computer, open a site in new Google Sites.
- At the right, click Insert
Embed.
- Click Embed code.
- Add your code, then click Next.
- JavaScript code must be within <script> tags.
- CSS code must be within <style> tags.
- Click Insert.
- To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Classic Google Sites
Note: This section is for classic Google Sites (at the top left, you’ll see "Create"). Get help with new Google Sites.
Add Google files, tables & other content
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- Click the page you want to edit.
- At the top, click Edit page
.
- Click where you want to insert the file.
- At the top left, click Insert and choose the type of file you want to add.
- Choose a calendar, chart, file, map, or YouTube video and click Select or Save.
Add a Google Group
You can add a Google Group to encourage discussion on your website.
- Create or join the Google Group you want to put on your page.
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- Go the page you want to edit.
- Click Edit page

- Click Insert
Group.
- Follow the instructions in the window.
- Click OK.
- Click Save.
Add and manage files
Add files
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- Click the page you want to edit.
- At the top, click Edit page
.
- At the bottom of the page, click Add files.
- Choose a file and click Open.
Reorganize, rename, or delete files
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- At the right, click More actions
.
- Click Manage Site.
- On the left, click Attachments.
- Click the file you want to edit.
- At the top, choose an action.
Note: You can only rename or replace one file at a time.
Know your storage limits
If you created your own Google Account:
- Your site can be up to 100 MB.
- Max attachment size: 20 MB.
Add a table or table of contents
Add a table
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- Click where you want to insert the table.
- In the toolbar, click Table
Insert table. If you don’t see the toolbar, click Edit page
.
- Choose the number of rows and columns you want in the table.
- Optional: To delete a table, double-click the border of the table. Then, click Table
Delete table.
Add a table of contents
- On a computer, open a site in classic Google Sites.
- Click where you want to insert the table of contents.
- In the toolbar, click Insert
Table of contents. If you don’t see the toolbar, click Edit page
.
- Click Save.
