Create and edit page templates

You can make your site look consistent and create pages faster by making your own page templates.

Make or edit a template

  1. Open your website in Google Sites.
  2. Click More actions More actions and then Manage site.
  3. Click Page templates.
    • To make a page template from scratch, click Create page template, then enter a template name and click Create.
    • To edit an existing template, go to "User created templates," then click the template you want to edit.
  4. In the top right, click Edit Edit.
  5. Optional: To change template information such as its description, URL, or where pages made with it are located, click More actions More actions and then Template settings.
  6. Make your changes, then click Save.
Make a template from an existing page

You can create a template from an existing page.

  1. Open your website in Google Sites.
  2. Click the page you want to use as a template.
  3. Click More actions More actions and then Save as page template.
Make a template from your site

You can turn your entire site into a template to share with others who can see your site.

  1. Open your website in Google Sites.
  2. Click More actions More actions and then Manage site.
  3. Scroll down and click Publish this site as a template. If you don’t see that option, you can’t share your site as a template.
  4. Enter a template name.
  5. Enter a template description.
  6. Click Submit.

Change or remove your site template

To change your site template’s name or description, click More actions More actions and then Manage site and then Template information.

To remove the template from your domain gallery, click Remove from gallery.
