View account history

Scope and filter a change history report

If you're scoped to an advertiser, the change history report lists all tracked changes that occurred in the advertiser and its entities during a specified date range. The report lists when a bid strategy was applied to keywords or campaigns, if a mobile bid adjustment was changed from 10% to 15%, and whether campaigns were added or removed from an account.

By default, the change history report lists changes made to all items within a specified scope and date range.

To reduce the amount of information shown, you can scope and filter the report to a specific account, campaign, ad group, or bid strategy.

 

  1. Navigate to an advertiser, account, campaign, ad group, bid strategy, or label to scope the report.

    Navigate to a campaign.

  2. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

    Changes that were made at the selected scope and lower are displayed.

    If you selected a bid strategy or a label, the list is filtered for the bid strategy ID or label ID.

  4. Click Filter in the toolbar above the reporting table.
  5. Click Attribute ▼, and then click the attribute that you want. For example, click Campaign.
  6. In the next list, select a criteria such as Equals or Does not equal.

    Different criteria is available for different attributes. For example, if the attribute is System, Change type, or Entity changed, the default criteria is Is one of.
  7. In the last list, do one of the following to specify the values:

    • Enter the value or values, separated by a vertical bar (|).
    • If the attribute is System, Change type, or Entity changed,

      1. Click the arrow ▼ to display the list.
        All the items are selected by default.

      2. Click Clear to deselect all the items, or clear the check box of each item that you don't want.
      3. On the search line, type the value that you want or select the check box of each item that you want.
      4. Click OK.
  8. Optional: Add other attributes and then click Apply Filters.
  9. To remove an attribute, click the x.

Filter attributes 

You can filter the change history report using any of the following attributes or combination of attributes.

Account ID

Specify the account ID in a change history filter to see any changes made in an account. Can only be used with the Equals criteria.

Add this column to a report:

  1. Navigate to an engine account.
  2. Add the column to a report.
    1. Click the Columns button above the reporting table.
    2. In the Search for columns box, type Account ID.
    3. Click + to add the column to the report.
    4. Click Save.
  3. Copy the account ID.
  4. Add the account ID to the change history filter.
Ad group
Specify the name of an ad group in a change history filter to display changes made in an ad group and lower.
Ad group ID

Specify the ad group ID in a change history filter to display changes made in an ad group. Can only be used with the Equals criteria.

 

Add this column to a report:

  1. Navigate to an ad group.
  2. Add the column to a report.

    1. Click the Columns button above the reporting table.
    2. In the Search for columns box, type Ad group ID.
    3. Click + to add the column to the report.
    4. Click Save.
  3. Copy the ad group ID.
  4. Add the ad group ID to the change history filter.
Bid strategy
Specify the name of a bid strategy or a budget bid strategy in a change history filter to display changes made by and to the bid strategy.
Bid strategy ID

Specify the bid strategy ID in a change history filter to display changes made by a bid strategy. Can only be used with the Equals criteria.

 

Instead of adding a bid strategy column to a report, you can save a few clicks by doing the following:

  1. In the left navigation panel, click Bid strategies.
  2. Click the Bid strategies tab.
  3. Click bid strategy that you want.
  4. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

    All changes made to and by the bid strategy are listed.

Add this column to a report:
  1. In the left navigation panel, click Bid strategies.
  2. Click the Bid strategies tab.
  3. Add the column to a report.

    1. Click the Columns button above the reporting table.
    2. In the Search for columns box, type ID.
    3. Click + to add the column to the report.
    4. Click Save.
  4. Copy the bid strategy ID.
  5. Add the bid strategy ID to the change history filter.
Campaign
Specify the name of a campaign in a change history filter to display changes made in a campaign and lower scope.
Campaign ID

Specify the campaign ID in a change history filter to display changes made in a campaign. Can only be used with the Equals criteria.

To add this column to a report:

  1. Navigate to a campaign.
  2. Add the column to a report.

    1. Click the Columns button above the reporting table.
    2. In the Search for columns box, type Campaign ID.
    3. Click + to add the column to the report.
    4. Click Save.
  3. Copy the campaign ID.
  4. Add the campaign ID to the change history filter.
Change type

Specify a brief description of what was changed in an item. For example, a change type might be that a bid strategy was added to a campaign, that an ad group was created, or the engine status changed.

The Change type attribute is used with the Is one of criteria.

Use this entity to filter the report for changes made to URL templates and dynamic ad targets

Label
Specify the name of a label in a change history filter to display changes made to a label. If a label is applied or removed from an item, the change is listed in the item's history.
Label ID
Specify the label ID in a change history filter to display changes made to a label.  Can only be used with the Equals criteria.
System

Specify the name of a system in a change history filter to display changes made using the specified Search Ads 360 feature or component. The system attribute is used with the Is one of criteria.

User email

Specify one or more email addresses in a change history filter to display changes made by the person. Separate the values with a vertical bar (|). Can be used with the Equals criteria.

 

Filter criteria options

Use the criteria in a filter to identify the type of information that you want to be included or excluded in the change history report.

Is one of
Applicable only for the System, Change type, and Entity changed attributes.  Enables you to select one or many of the pre-defined values.
Contains
Available only for attributes such as Campaign, Bid strategy, Ad group, or Label that allow you to specify all or part or a name of the items you want. On the value line, separate the names with a vertical bar. For example, Campaign1 | Campaign2 | Campaign3.
Does not contain
Applicable only for attributes such as Campaign or Bid strategy that allow you to specify all or part of the names of the items you want to exclude. On the value line, separate the names with a vertical bar. For example, ROAS1 | ERS2.
Equals
Select Equals to exactly match the value that you specify.  The filter is case sensitive. 
Equals (case insensitive)
Select Equals (case insensitive) to match the value that you specify. The filter is not case sensitive which means that it will filter all values that match the criteria.
Does not equal
Select Does not equal to specify the value that you want to exclude from the report. The filter will exclude values that as written in the filter. That is, the filter is case sensitive.
Does not equal (case insensitive)
Select Does not equal (case insensitive) to specify the value that you want to exclude from the report. The filter is not case sensitive will filter all values that match the criteria.
Starts with
Select Starts with to specify the beginning characters of the values that you want to include in the report. Can be used with the campaign, ad group, label, or bid strategy attribute.
Ends with
Select Ends with the specify the last characters of the values that you want to include in the report.  Can be used with the campaign, ad group, label, or bid strategy attribute.
Does not end with
Select Does not have a value to include only items without a value. For example, you might filter for bid strategies that are empty. Can be used with the campaign, ad group, label, or bid strategy attribute.
Matches regular expression
Select Matches regular expression to specify a regular expression in the filter. Can be used with the campaign, ad group, label, or bid strategy attribute.
