Apply a Search Ads 360 bid strategy to Shopping campaigns and product groups

Specify bid strategy settings for product groups

By default, product groups inherit the campaign's bid strategy. You can override the default and do either of the following:

  • Apply a bid strategy directly to a product group. The product group will use its own bid strategy instead of any bid strategy specified for the campaign.

  • Specify that a product group should never be managed by a bid strategy. In this case, you'll need to specify a max CPC for the product group.

To specify bid strategy settings for product groups:

  1. Navigate to the ad group that contains the product groups.

  2. Click the Targets▼ tab, and then click Product groups.

  3. Add the Bid strategy column to the reporting table.

  4.  Select the product groups to which you want to apply a bid strategy by doing either of the following in the reporting table:

    • Select the check boxes next to the product groups.
    • Filter the table to display only the product groups that you want.
  5. In the toolbar above the reporting table, click the Edit  button, and then click Change bid strategy.
The panel where you can select a bid strategy appears.

  6. Under New bid strategy, click Search Ads 360 bid strategies.

  7. In the right panel, under Search Ads 360 bid strategies, click the down arrowto display the list of bid strategies that have been created in the engine account.
Any position bid strategies are dimmed because they cannot be applied to product groups.

  8. Select one of the following items from the bid strategy list:

    • A bid strategy: The product group will use the selected bid strategy instead of any bid strategy specified for the campaign or ad group.

    • No bid strategy (manual bidding): The product group will never be managed by a bid strategy until you change this setting.

  9. Select the Set min/max bid check box.
Min bid and Max bid determine the lowest and highest amounts that a bid strategy will set for a product group's max CPC.
You can use the default min and max bids specified at the bid strategy level, or you can specify the min and max bid for the selected product groups.
  10. Do one of the following:
    • To use the default bids, select the Use min and max bids set at bid strategy level check box.
    • To specify the min and max bids at the product group level,  enter the bids. Note that the max CPC of each selected product group must be greater than the min bid and less than the max bid.

Search Ads 360 doesn't provide the ability to specify min and max bids at the campaign or ad group level.

  11. Optional. Schedule the change.
  12. Click Save.
