Set up Floodlight instructions

Example 1: Create a currency conversion instruction for an activity

A retail advertiser based in the United States maintains two separate sites: one for sales in the US and another for occasional sales in Canada. Each site has its own Floodlight activity for reporting sales.

Last month, the two Floodlight activites reported the following revenue:

  • $2,000,000 USD from the Floodlight activity on the US site.
  • C$10,000 CAD from the Floodlight activity on the Canadian site.

If the Campaign Manager 360 advertiser associated with the Search Ads 360 advertiser specifies USD as its currency, then Search Ads 360 assumes that the revenue being reported from the Floodlight activities is in USD. To convert the Canadian sales to USD, the advertiser creates a Floodlight instruction for the Floodlight activity on the Canadian site. The instruction has a source currency of CAD and a new currency of USD. As a result, Search Ads 360 will calculate the total sales as follows:

  • Search Ads 360 correctly converts the C$10,000. If the C$10,000 is converted to $9,600 USD, the correct total sales will be $2,009,600 USD. This is the value that will appear in Search Ads 360 reporting.

In Campaign Manager 360, Paid Search reports contain the raw numeric values from Floodlight transaction tags and do not assign or convert the value into a specific currency. In addition, Search Ads 360 Floodlight instructions are not applied to data in Campaign Manager 360. So a Paid Search report in Campaign Manager 360 will calculate the sales as follows:

  • Campaign Manager 360 adds 2,000,000 and 10,000 for a total of $2,010,000. In other words, the C$10,000 is not converted to USD before the amounts are added together. This is the value that will appear in Campaign Manager 360 Report Builder.

Follow these steps to apply this currency conversion Floodlight instruction to the Canadian site sales Floodlight activity:

  1. Navigate to an advertiser.

Steps for navigating to an advertiser
