How to use the Screenwise Meter mobile app

Sign in

When you set up or restart the Screenwise Meter app or your phone, follow these steps.

iPhone or iPad

  1. Tap the Screenwise Meter icon on your home screen or in your apps list.
  2. Sign in with the email and password that you used to create your panelist account.
  3. If this is the first time signing in, tap OK to turn on notifications.

Android

  1. To open the app, tap the Screenwise Meter icon on your home screen or in your apps list.
  2. To sign in:
    • With your Google account: Tap Sign in with Google.
    • Without a Google account: Enter your email and password, then tap Sign In.​
  3. Tap Set Up.
    • On the "Permissions" page, turn on all requested permissions.
  4. Check your cookies for the first time.
  5. Continue to the home page

When to check in as a panelist or a guest

When the Screenwise Meter app is in guest mode, no info is collected about how you're using the phone or tablet. General diagnostic info about the operation and quality of the app might be collected.

Panelists can decide whether to check in or use guest mode. When you're done using guest mode, tap Resume metering and choose the panelist that's using the device.

Use guest for these people using the phone or tablet:

  • Anyone who's not a panelist in your household
  • Household members younger than 13 using the device without any panelists

Switch panelists

iPhone or iPad

  1. If you haven't turned on multi-user mode, do that first:
    1. On the home page, tap Settings .
    2. Check Enable Multi-User Mode.
  2. To choose the panelist that uses the device, tap Switch accounts.

Android

  1. On the home page, tap Menu .
  2. To select the panelist, use the device from the dropdown at the top of the menu.

App notifications or required actions

  • You'll get a notification if the app isn't able to collect info about your device. In this case, if you're ready to check in, open the app and tap Resume metering.
  • Notifications about other issues include instructions for fixing the issue.
  • Permissions needed by the app might change from time to time. If so, you'll get a notification explaining the change. The Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions are updated as permissions change.

Activate accessibility service

  1. Open the Screenwise Meter.
  2. Tap the notification.
  3. Scroll down and tap Screenwise Meter.
  4. Tap to the right of Screenwise Meter to turn on the metering service. The box turns green and moves to ON.
  5. Tap OK.

Activate notification monitoring

  1. Open the Screenwise Meter.
  2. Tap the notification.
  3. Tap to the right of Screenwise Meter to turn on notification access. The box turns blue and fills with a square.

Use the TV meter remote

Android

  1. From the app home screen, tap Check in to go to the TV meter remote.
  2. Choose the TV you’re watching, and then tap your name to check in.
  3. When you’re finished watching TV, tap your name again to check out.

iPhone or iPad

  1. From the app home screen, tap TV Meter Remote.
  2. Choose the TV you’re watching, and then tap your name to check in.
  3. When you’re finished watching TV, tap your name again to check out.

If you watch TV for more than 90 minutes, you'll be asked if you're still watching. If you're no longer watching, you'll be checked out.
