When to check in, pause, or use Other adults age 18+
Panelists can decide whether to check in or pause the Screenwise TV Meter when they're watching TV, movies, or videos.
How pause works
When the TV meter is paused, no info is collected about what you're watching on TV or YouTube. General diagnostic info about the operation and quality of the TV meter may be collected.
To pause the TV meter, tap the pause button. The screen shows that the TV meter is paused.
When you're done using pause, resume or "un-pause" the TV meter.
Checking in and out
When someone is checked in, the TV meter collects information about what is watched, total time watched, and who has checked in.
As you are joined by other panelist members of your household, just tap their user icon to check them in. When a panelist leaves the room, even for a short period, tap their icon again to check them out.
You can also check in and out on your mobile app.
People that aren't panelists
- Other adults age 18+, such as visitors or household members who aren’t panelists, can choose to check in too.
- Visitors under the age of 18 cannot check in. When visitors younger than 18 are watching without any panelists, you can pause check-in reminders.
- Pause check-in reminders when people younger than 13 are watching without any panelists.
Pair your streaming devices
- As part of your panel participation, pair all devices when asked by the TV meter.
- You can also pair your devices anytime in the settings menu.
- This pairing helps us remind you to check in on the correct TV meter.
- For devices that are only used by household members who aren’t panelists, select “Don’t meter.”
Dim the screen
- The TV meter screen dims a few seconds after a panelist checks in to the TV meter.
- To make the screen dim faster, tap the icon to dim screen.
- To make the screen brighter again, touch the screen.
- If the TV meter has a notification for you, the screen brightens automatically.
